I first interviewed Michael Steger in spring 2008, shortly after The CW announced they ordered their 90210 pilot as a full series. He and the rest of the cast didn’t know much about their characters yet but he did know this: he’d sort of be Andrea Zuckerman version 2.0, via his association with the West Beverly Blaze. After all, Andrea had been the Beverly Hills 90210 character I identified with most (at least until she got pregnant and married–in that order–while a freshman in college…can’t say that happened to me! A season-and-a-half later, I’m more than pleased to see Steger’s character Navid Shirazi still has the journalism connection. I think the fans are really, really going to like this one.Steger was born on May 27, 1980, to an accountant mother and an operations manager. According to an interview, he was bullied during his childhood in the fourth grade until the sixth grade. He was later transferred to another school when the bullying became too serious.I think there’s a lot of room for stories with his family. Steger: I went to New York right away to see a bunch of theater. Come back next Sunday for another exclusive interview! When I watched 90210 more last year-I really liked Navid’s character more than any of the other guys. So I’m really glad you were able to do this interview with him. I did watch about half of last season and then sort of lost interest, but I’m familiar with the characters. He has to deal with this materialistic life as best as he can but it’s overwhelming. Now I’m getting back to my actor roots, looking for jobs and projects to get involved with. My daughter watches, and loves it, and I’m going to direct her to the interview.
So there’s a lot of reason for Navid to have pure hate for this guy. TDW: Is Navid any way connected to the Adrianna-Gia [Rumer Willis] romance? I was wondering if you have a favorite journalist or someone in the media world you really admire. It’s almost like Navid is trying to escape that and wants to find success in something he finds classy and artistic. TDW: You’ve already finished filming for the season, so what’s next for you? Great interview Shari, I enjoyed it and I don’t really even watch 90210.Steger was born on May 27, 1980, the third out of four sons.He is the son of an accountant mother and an operations manager father. While chatting on the phone earlier this week, Steger shared with me his favorite real-life journalists, filled me in on Navid’s storyline for the next few episodes (is there a possible battle of the red-heads brewin’? A lot goes down and you see everybody’s true colors come out. TDW: Is there anything in particular you’d like to do in season 3? Steger: I’d like for the Blaze to showcase more hard-hitting issues, bringing hot topics to the forefront and educating our audience.) and expressed where he’d like to see 90210 to go in season 3. I feel like there’s so much out there kids should be aware of.Steger later graduated with honors from Cal Poly Pomona, achieving a BA degree in Theater and a minor in Spanish. In 2005, he acted in the Bollywood indie film 3 Girls and the Golden Cocoon, and after appearing as Mohamed Esfiri in an uncredited role on NCIS in 2005, he landed a recurring role on The Winner in 2007.Throughout his childhood, Steger trained in martial arts, and at the age of eighteen, he received his first Dan black belt in Tae Kwon Do. As of 2007, Steger has appeared in several Disney Channel productions, guest-starring in Hannah Montana and Cory in the House, as well as acquiring a costarring role in the 2008 Disney Channel Original Movie The Cheetah Girls: One World. On Wednesday morning (July 18, 2018) the American Sun-Times reported Michael Steger and girlfriend, to be shopping for engagement rings. The couple was seen closely eyeing some pricey bling in a couple of major jewelry stores — especially major diamond baubles that could only be described as the kind usually slipped on a woman’s left-hand ring finger.
